This Bible story has all the makings of a great plot line, but not in a good way for Cain! Cain was jealous of his brother Abel for receiving God's approval. He was angry that he didn't get something his brother got, so he did something very bad. God could see the brothers' hearts and He saw that Abel's was full of faith and trust. Cain's heart was full of unbelief, which is why sin overcame him and he killed his brother. Cain remained unrepentant for his actions and his ultimate punishment came from his own doing.
